Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream, Kitchen and Shop is one of a chain of hand-crafted ice cream shops in and around the Cleveland area.
The venue is an old cinema and has been transformed into their flagship store in Ohio City.
The company focusses heavily on being environmentally sustainable. For example, they minimize water waste by using efficient water saving faucets so that rain water isn't flushed into sewers but seeped into the ground instead and they harvest, then sterilize rainwater to reuse in the washrooms, to water their plants, and to temper their dishwashers.
Solar panels are used to power their fridges and freezers and they re-use waste heat from the large freezers they use to then heat water in the building.
To make their ice creams, they source their ingredients locally and use fair-trade suppliers when possible, and although they are not specifically a vegan eatery, they do have a couple of vegan ice cream flavors on the menu (for example, salted caramel pecan and chocolate).
It is possible to hold private events and birthday parties at the venue and private parties and functions can also be catered for.
