Casa Nueva and Catina is a Mexican-inspired eatery in Athens. The restaurant is a cooperative, it is owned by the workers, and they serve local and sustainable food.
Although a meat-serving establishment, they do have a range of vegan-friendly dishes to choose from. These include a selection of salads, a chili soup, tofu Albondigas (Mexican meatballs), build your own burritos, chimichangas, enchiladas, tacos and empanadas as well as a selection of salsas and sides (for example, peanut-soy tofu and tofu fries). They also offer an appetizer menu, a seasonal menu, a kids menu and a breakfast menu that includes dishes such as vegan rancheros (a Mexican brunch dish). There are plenty of gluten-free options to choose from, too.
The drinks menu offers coffee, a selection of teas, juices, a range of cocktails, wines, beers, liquors and - as you'd expect from a Mexican-inspired restaurant - plenty of margaritas.
A takeaway service is available.
